Thousands of folks came to the green to enjoy the annual Ice Cream Social hosted by the Hudson League for Service. Ice cream with lots of toppings were complimented with hot dogs and pies.
So many volunteers, businesses and organizations supported the event. Kindermusic, Highland Square Ukulele, WRCB and the Colin Palmieri Quartet share their musical talents. Organizations sharing their time including Leadership Hudson, Clock Tower Rotary Hudson Library and Historical Society, Hudson Community Choruses, Episcopal Church, Case-Barlow Farm, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops. The City of Hudson and Hudson City School District gave much appreciated support. And most importantly, thanks to Hershey’s of Hudson for their ice cream!

The Ice Cream Social is a fundraiser first held in 1947 to fund the high school scholarships and community grants. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Madeline (Maddie) Seifert, daughter of Michael and Brit Seifert. Hudson League for Service Vice President and Scholarship Coordinator Tina Schmutz said “We are pleased to present Maddie with our annual scholarship. Her dedication to serving others is helping to shape a better tomorrow both here in Hudson and beyond. Her name will be added to the plaque in the Hudson High School media center recognizing Hudson League for Service scholarship winners. Applications for 2023 are due March 1, 2023.
In case of rain the event will be moved to the Hudson High School location.
Did you know? The first Hudson League for Service Ice Cream Social was held in 1947. Proceeds were used to to finance community projects that included teaching an art class at the high school, providing transportation for those who needed a ride, helping at the library by mending books and children’s story times, sponsoring a children’s theater and much more.
